CONCERT ON DECEMBER 5TH, 2026 AT 2PM
Silver Mirror
Silver Mirror is a chamber piece in six through-composed movements that observes the events of the space race from the Moon’s “first-person” point of view. Underscoring the deep and ancient connection between Moon and Earth, and giving voice to the Moon’s experience of humanity’s departures from the earth’s surface, this lunar witness account is scored for soprano, piano, clarinet, and bass. Featuring music by Sergey Nesterov and text by Alan Olejniczak.
PREMIERING DECEMBER 5TH, 2026 AT 2PM
Stellar
Stellar is a concert work for voice and piano in 10 movements (a triptych of song cycles and an epilogue) that explores humankind’s relationship with space - how our evolving understanding of the cosmos seems to change it and us. Featuring music by Giovanni Piacentini, Madeline Barrett, and Tomàs Peire-Serrate, with texts by Doug Woolsey and Madeline Barrett, these songs celebrate the achievements of scientists, engineers, and pilots; honor three famous spacecraft; explore the wonders of light and gravity; and speak to our global fascination with space.
PREMIERING DECEMBER 5TH, 2026 AT 2PM
Sputnik
Sputnik, a chamber piece for three sopranos and piano, is an ode to the vessel that launched the space race and changed humankind’s vision of its place in the universe forever. Featuring music by Tomàs Peire-Serrate and text by Doug Woolsey, the trio acts as the final movement of Stellar.
